  • Transmission Based Precautions: Contact, Droplet & Airborne
  • Contact Precautions: MRSA, C. Difficile, Scabies
  • Droplet Precautions: Mumps, Rubella, N. Meningitis
  • Airborne Precautions: Chicken Pox, Measles, TB
  • An idea about notifiable diseases is essential
  • Meningitis Chemoprophylaxis in Neisseria:
    • Close contacts in the same household in the last 7 days
    • Kissing Contacts
    • Person managing patients airway
    • Personnel whose mouth/nose got splattered with large particle
      droplets/secretions
    • Ciprofloxacin 500 mg SD PO or Rifampicin 600 mg PO BID for 2 days or
    • Azithromycin 500 mg PO SD (Pregnant/Breast Feeding) or Ceftriaxone IM SD
    • More: Meningitis
